Five regular season home games dot the 2020 Hillsboro varsity football schedule. Beginning at the end of August, fingers are crossed that the Hawks will take the field for the 2020 campaign.
Hillsboro will open the season with two road games. On August 28, the Hawks travel to Northwest to face the Lions. Northwest finished 5-5 last season. Then, September 4 brings them face to face with the Jackson Indians, a team that finished second at state last season with a gaudy 13-1 record. The Indians lost in the state title game in overtime to Carthage.
The first home game will take place September 11 against the Cape Central Tigers. The Tigers ended the Hawks season in 2019, winning a district semifinal contest. Central finished 7-5. Two more home games follow…September 18 against North County (2-8), and the rivalry game against Festus (5-6) on September 25.
October begins with two road games against Windsor (3-7) on October 2, and another rival, DeSoto (4-6) on October 9. The regular season will close out back at home against St. Francis Borgia (9-3) on October 16, and Poplar Bluff (4-6) on October 23. The district playoffs begin on October 30.
Hillsboro finished 4-7 last season. The Hawks will face opponents with a combined 2019 record of 52-47.
