The first game of the regular season went incredibly well for the Park Hills Central Boys Varsity Basketball team. The Rebels came out red hot and never cooled off as they smoked the Festus Tigers 83-49 in the 2021-2022 Home opener. It was a nice way to kick off the season, as the Rebels will look to make early waves in their conference.
The game was only close for the first quarter as Central outscored Festus 19 to 15 in those eight minutes. Their offense then ran away with it in the second, racking up an additional 24 points, as the defense held their foes to a meager nine. The first half ended with a monumental Rebel lead, 43-24 over the Tigers.
It was more of the same in the second half, as Central added another 24 points in the third quarter, and then 16 more in the final quarter to wrap up the win for the Rebels. It was all smiles and hi-fives after the game as the team celebrated their first victory of what will hopefully be many this season.
Central relied heavily on the hot hand of Jobe Bryant, who lit up the scoreboard with 42 points. He started off the first quarter with 11 and never looked back. Bryant also drained four three-pointers and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe during the game. He certainly will be a player of note that opponent defenses will attempt to contain all season long.
Also getting in on the action, Caden Casey was solid contributing 12 points in the second half, with Kendall Horton adding 11 of his own. Jaxon Jones and Grant Manion both put up seven points apiece, with Zach Boyd and Triston Stewart each notching a bucket.
It was a strong start for the Central Rebels who now have certainly made their presence known. The team will have a few days to relax and regroup before they enter the 66th Annual Steighorst Tournament, beginning Monday, December 6th.
