The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity Football team has a rematch against the North County Raiders this week, this time for the Class Four District One Championship on their home turf.
Hillsboro comes into this week off of a grind-it-out 13-7 win over the Festus Tigers that came down to the wire. Austin Romaine was a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball the entire game. He carried the ball 25 times for 232 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown. He also led the defense with 11 and a half tackles and three sacks. Jaxin Patterson carried the ball 22 times for 69 yards and a touchdown.
North County has been dominant for nearly all of the 2021 season. They are 10-1 and the lone blemish on their record represents when Hillsboro whooped them 42-7 in week four. The Raiders weren’t at full strength in the first match up, but look to be this week, as they’ll prioritize top area running back Jobe Smith, along with QB Nolan Reed to keep the chains moving against the Boro defense.
Hillsboro is playing the best football they’ve played all year just in time for the most important games on their schedule. They had a long, drawn-out battle with a crosstown rival last week and they’ll have a similar contest against North County. The Raiders are going to want to avenge the only loss on their schedule this year, and NC knocked off the Hawks in last year’s district bracket.
Both teams have the ability to make big plays and have dominate defenses, and will be ready to battle, but anything can happen.
Look out for this title bout between the Hawks and Raiders to kick off Friday, November 12th at 7 pm.
Good luck Hawks!
