The Ste. Genevieve Dragons Varsity Football team looks to pull their record back above .500 this week when they run up against the Perryville Pirates on Friday, October 8th on Homecoming night.
Last week the Dragons had their two-game winning streak come to a close when they lost to the Park Hills Central Rebels 28-14. They were held scoreless by the Rebels in the first half and their second-half come-back effort fell a bit short. Austin McBride racked up 14 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns, while Wyatt Springkamper had nine carries for 44 yards. Unfortunately, the Dragons were unable to get their passing game rolling ,which had been their saving grace in the past.
Perryville is coming into this game off of two consecutive losses and in desperate need of a win. They are 2-4 on the season and have been shut out in their previous two games. They’ve been held scoreless three times total this season.
The Dragons have had a stranglehold on this matchup for some time now. They are 11-0 against the Pirates since 2010. Last year, the Dragons shut out Perryville 41-0. They have put up over 40 points in this matchup in two consecutive years. This is a game where Ste. Gen’s passing offense is going to be looking to bounce back. Aiden Boyer was held to just 22 yards passing last week after throwing for over 300 yards in the two weeks prior. Be on the lookout Friday, October 8th at 7 pm when the Pirates take on the Dragons in Ste. Gen.
Good luck Dragons!
