The Valle Catholic Warriors Varsity Football team takes on the Jefferson R-7 Blue Jays this Friday, October 1st.
The Warriors are coming fresh off of a blowout 42-0 shoutout victory over St. Dominic. Grant Fallert made his first start of the year at quarterback and impressed, to say the least. He completed eight out of ten passes for 112 yards and four touchdowns, and also snagged an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Bryce Giesler had 68 yards and three touchdowns, Aiden Heberlie caught four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown and Alex Viox carried the ball six times for 89 yards. The Warriors sacked the St. Dominic quarterback six times and only allowed 126 yards of total offense.
The Blue Jays are coming off of a convincing 61-20 victory over Bayless. This was the bounce-back win they needed after losing to St. Pius on the last play of the game the week before. The Jays saw a multitude of different players contribute against Bayless, and now sit at 4-1 on the season. Quarterback Drew Breeze did not throw an incompletion and passed for 212 yards and two touchdowns, Sean Usery found the end zone three times and Will Breeze and Sam Stokes each scored once as well. The Blue Jays also forced Bayless into five turnovers.
Valle welcomes the Blue Jays to their home turf for only their second home game of the season. The Warriors have won every matchup with R-7 dating back to 2012. Jefferson is going to have their work cut out for them when they travel down to Ste. Genevieve on Frdiay, October 1st at 7 pm.
