Friday Night Preview Week 5: Park Hills Central Rebels

Coming off back-to-back shutout victories, the Park Hills Central Rebels Varsity Football team looks to move to 4-1 on the season as they travel to Potosi to take on the 1-3 Trojans.

This Friday, September 24th, the Park Hills Central Varsity Football team will travel to Potosi. The 1-3 Potosi Trojans will host the 3-1 Central Rebels in an important district game.

The Rebels have been steam rolling their competition, particularly in the last few weeks. Two weeks ago, Central dusted the Perryville Pirates 76-0, and last week they mauled the Cuba Wildcats 70-0. Central has posted 238 points for, and only allowed 59.

The Trojans on the other hand, have not had quite the success, with only one win so far this season. Ironically, the team has scored more points than they have given up. Potosi has scored 134 points, and have only given up 122. Last week, the Trojans lost to Ste. Genevieve 41-21. The team has scored, and the offense has hung tough, but they have been edged out in a few close games.

One big key to the success of the offense for Central is running back Dayshawn Welch, who has been absolutely tearing it up this season. In fact, last week Welch broke the Central single-game touchdown record of four by scoring five, in only one half. He now has every single-game, single-season and career rushing record at Central. He also has nine touchdowns on only 13 carries in the last two games, and 13 touchdowns in the last three games going back to the MICDS game in week two.

The Central offense is built to score, and score quickly. Quarterback Jett Bridges has been finding his targets as well. Go-to receiver Ruger Sutton has hauled in some big catches. Other receivers Slade Schweiss and Jobe Bryant have also made impressive receptions and racked up big yardage.

This week could be another explosion of offense as the red hot Rebels roll into Potosi to look to keep their two-game winning streak alive. The Rebels and the Trojans will kickoff next Friday at 7:00 p.m., in Potosi, on September 24th.

Good luck Rebels!
