Park Hills Central Football Crushes Cuba

The Park Hills Central Rebels Varsity Football team runs wild over the Cuba Wildcats with a convincing 70-0 victory.

It was another amazing display of offensive domination shown by the Park Hills Central Varsity Football team, as they annihilated Cuba by the score of 70-0. Last week the team put up 76 points while shutting out their foes, and this week was nearly identical.

The game started off strong for the Central Rebels as Dayshawn Welch scored on the first play of the game.

Jobe Bryant then had an interception to get the ball back for the Rebels. Slade Schweiss had a big 42-yard catch to set up a Ruger Sutton 25-yard touchdown run.

Sutton then went back out on defense and blocked a Wildcat punt. This allowed Welch to score another touchdown rushing the ball in from three yards.

After another Cuba three and out, Welch scored his third touchdown of the game, rushing the ball in from 31 yards.

Dylan Holifield came up big defensively with a sack, forcing a Wildcat punt. Bryant returned the punt 45 yards for another touchdown, making it 34-0 after only one quarter.

In the second quarter, Cuba opened with their longest drive of the game. However, after a couple of tackles for losses by Jason Pyatt and Xander Burke, Central got the ball back and immediately handed it to Welch who ran 77 yards to score another touchdown.

After another huge Bryant punt return, Jett Bridges found Grant Manion from 24 yards out for a touchdown. This time, Central went for two, and fan favorite Kale Holmes punched it in for the successful conversion.

Manion commented, “Games like this are always a good time, including seeing the younger guys getting in and doing their thing too. The season is going great and I’m excited to see how the rest goes!”

Ty Schweiss then made an interception to get the ball back for the Rebels. Welch then rammed it home from nine yards out to score his fifth touchdown of the half on only six carries.

The bad luck continued to befall Cuba, as Casen Murphy ended the first-half scoring a touchdown off a 51-yard interception return for a touchdown. After one half, the Rebels led the Wildcats 63-0.

The second-half featured a lot of substitutions and younger players. The last touchdown of the game came in the fourth quarter as Austin Hassell ran it in from 17 yards out. The final score of the game was 70-0.

Welch broke the Central single-game touchdown record of four by scoring five, in only one half. He now has every single-game, single-season and career rushing record at Central. He also has nine touchdowns on only 13 carries in the last two games, and 13 touchdowns in the last three games going back to the MICDS game in week two. Humbly, Welch commented, “The game went well. The season is going well, but we have to keep working to get better.”

The 3-1 Central Rebels will now prepare to travel to Potosi to take on the Trojans next Friday, September 24th, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Park Hills Central Football Crushes Cuba
