Friday Night Preview Week 4: Jackson Indians

The Jackson Indians Varsity Football team looks to remain undefeated and move to 4-0 on the season as they host the 0-3 Cape Central Tigers on Friday.

The Jackson Indians Varsity Football team is cruising once again in 2021. After last season’s perfect 14-0 State Championship campaign the Indians are still undefeated, going 3-0 this year. Last week featured a physically brutal game against Poplar Bluff but Jackson came out on top once again.

They downed the Mules 50-32 and have now put up 172 points while allowing just 38 on the season. Head Coach Brent Eckley‘s team has a balanced attack through the air and on the ground, while also executing efficiently on defense, but last week was all about the big duo of QB Cameron Marchi and WR Kannen Turley.

Marchi hooked up with his favorite target three times in the end zone en route to a game where he tossed 286 yards and five TDs. Turley had those three scores, a two-point conversion and 192 yards through the air. They have been an offensive force to be reckoned with all season.

This week the Indians take on the Cape Central Tigers, who are currently 0-3 on the season. The Tigers have had a rough go of it in 2021, falling 50-19, 2-0 and 41-0 in their first three contests. Being shut out in their last two games at the hands of St. Charles West and Hillsboro, respectively, was a tough blow, but things certainly aren’t going to get any easier for them against the defending State Champions.

The Indians haven’t seen the Tigers since 2015, but have owned them during Coach Eckley’s tenure. Jackson is 7-2 in their last nine games against Central, winning five in a row in dominating fashion. The fact that the Indians return home for this one will likely add insult to injury for the Tigers, who will certainly have a tough enough time keeping up in this game.

Kickoff is at 7 pm on Friday, September 17th in Jackson. The Indians will look to remain perfect on the season and move to 4-0.

Good luck Indians!
