The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity Football team looks to cap off their regular season with a win over the Poplar Bluff Mules on Friday, October 22nd.

The Hawks currently sit at 7-1 and are coming off of a dominant 50-0 shutout win over St. Francis Borgia. Jaxin Patterson spearheaded Hillsboro’s offense with 13 touches for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Just behind him was Austin Romaine, who carried the ball ten times for 83 yards and two total touchdowns. He also led the defense with six and a half tackles and a sack. The Hawks defense held Borgia to a minuscule 23 total yards of offense.

The Mules come into this week with a 6-2 record. They have won their last two matchups in a row including last week’s 41-15 win over Kennett. Their only two losses on the season are to Farmington and Jackson.

Hillsboro hasn’t had much luck against Poplar Bluff in recent years. The last time they beat the Mules was in 2014 and they’ve lost their last five consecutive meetings since then. However, the Hawks are in a great position to flip this matchup on its head this year. They have won six games in a row coming into this week and are playing the best football they have in recent years. Hillsboro looks to end its regular season with a win over the Mules on Friday, October 22nd at 7 pm in Poplar Bluff.

Good luck Hawks! Friday Night Preview Week 9: Hillsboro Hawks
