It’s a respectful and humble culture that leads to success on a variety of spectrums, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to shy away from championing an individual who had a truly impressive performance within the week.
We’ve teamed up with the good people at Pettus Automotive to bring you a feature that will highlight one student athlete’s outstanding individual performance every week. Whether on the gridiron, golf course, diamond or hardwood, there is always someone doing something special. And we thought you’d all like to know about it.
This week the honor goes to St. Pius X Lancer Justin Lehn. The dual threat had an incredible five-touchdown game in a blowout 55-6 victory over Cuba, and dominated on both sides of the ball. He was solely responsible for 265 of the 335 yards that the Lancers produced on offense, and had all but 48 of the team’s rushing yards on the day.
Lehn rushed for 238 yards with four touchdowns, making defenders miss left and right and breaking off TD runs of 21, 90, 28 and 30 yards. He also returned a kick for a touchdown to give him five total on the day, and caught a pair of catches for 27 yards to bump up his overall total. This was his second five-touchdown effort of the season, and he now has 15 total this year with 910 yards rushing/receiving through just six weeks.
Lehn was involved defensively as well. In the convincing victory he snatched his first interception of the 2023 campaign and also his first fumble recovery, accounting for two of the six total turnovers St. Pius was able to drum up. He also amassed 11 total tackles in the lopsided win.
Quite the individual effort.
The victory bumped the Lancers to 5-1 on the season, and Lehn has been a big part of their success this year. They will look for their third straight victory this Friday when they travel to St. Vincent to take on the 3-3 Indians.
Thanks to Pettus Automotive for making this possible, and congratulations to Justin Lehn on one heck of a week to start the season.
