It’s a respectful and humble culture that leads to success on a variety of spectrums, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to shy away from championing an individual who had a truly impressive performance within the week.
We’ve teamed up with the good people at Pettus Automotive to bring you a feature that will highlight one student athlete’s outstanding individual performance every week. Whether on the gridiron, golf course, diamond or hardwood, there is always someone doing something special. And we thought you’d all like to know about it.
This week the honor goes to Herculaneum Blackcat, Luke Brice. The bruising running back put the team on his shoulders and led Herky to a 40-0 win over Bayless in Week 7. Brice carried the ball 21 times for a whopping 216 yards and three touchdowns.
The massive road win in the first Conference Playoff game elevated Herky’s record to 3-4 on the season, and dropped Bayless to 0-6. Brice was particularly impressive as the focal point of the offense. In fact, the Blackcats relied solely on their running game in this one. They literally attempted one pass that went for one yard, whereas the deep running back collective gained 380 yards on the ground, with much of that coming from Brice’s heroics.
When he wasn’t juking, cutting through or running over defenders, Brice was on the other side of the ball as a linebacker. He was involved in the success of the Blackcats defensive efforts against Bayless, as they pitched their second shutout of the season.
It was quite the game for the talented young man, and it was a big win for Herculaneum. Next, they’ll take on a 3-4 Perryville team in Week 8 to try and win consecutive games for the first time this season… and you can bet that Brice will be heavily involved once again.
Thanks to Pettus Automotive for making this possible, and congratulations to Luke Brice on one heck of a week this season.
