The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity Football team has won four consecutive games and looks to keep the streak going into Friday, October 8th when they take on the De Soto Dragons on Homecoming night.
Hillsboro followed up their dramatic win over the Festus Tigers in week five with a 53-0 blowout win over the Windsor Owls last week. It was the Hawks’ rushing attack that bludgeoned the Owls’ defense over and over again. Peyton Brown led the way with eight carries for 140 yards and two touchdowns, Austin Romaine carried the ball six times for 81 yards and Jaxin Patterson racked up 78 yards on nine carries and scored three times. Tyler Watson rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown as well. Not to mention, Windsor could only put together 77 yards of total offense against a stout Hillsboro defense.
The Dragons haven’t had much luck this year. They sit at 0-6 and haven’t scored 20 points in a game yet this season. As a matter of fact, it took until week four against Festus for the Dragons offense to score at all. They are coming off of a 28-7 loss to Fredericktown and are eager to pick up their first win.
Hillsboro has controlled this matchup in recent years. They are 13-2 against the Dragons since 2010 and have won the last two meetings in a row. Last season, the Hawks won comfortably 54-34 and you can bet they want to carry over that success into this year.
Be on the lookout for the Hawks to run up against the Dragons on Friday, October 8th in Hillsboro.
Good luck Hawks!
