The Hillsboro Hawks Boys and Girls Cross Country squad had a very nice showing at the Ladue XC Invitational. The Girls Varsity, JV and Freshman finished third with 65 points, the Boys Varsity team shined with a second place finish at 83 points and the Boys JV squad had a second place finish of their own with 64 points.
Head Coach Thomas Gordon championed his players at all levels saying, “I was very proud of everyone’s performance today, especially our eight Freshman runners who ran in their first HS 5K race.”
The Hawks competed in the one mile, two mile, two-mile spilt and three-mile split. And compete they did. Standouts for the Girls team were Michelle Jones, who finished in fourth place overall and Anna Crosby, who came in sixth overall.
On the Boys side Jonah Allison stole the show once again finishing fourth overall for Varsity and Gavin Vaughn came in tenth. As for JV, transfer and budding star Jimmy Mann finished first, while teammate Landon Pogue was right on his heels, coming in second.
All of the Hawks performed admirably and appear to have an exciting and successful season ahead of them. Below are the full results of the Invitational.
