The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity Football team opened their season with a huge win over the Northwest Lions. However, their work will be cut out for them this week when they welcome the defending State Champion Jackson Indians to town as they try to stay undefeated.
The Hawks made a statement in week one when they walloped Northwest 49-0. They were dominant on both sides of the ball. Hillsboro started the game with a 28-point first quarter and never looked back. The rushing attack did a majority of the damage on offense. Austin Romaine carried the ball seven times for 173 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught a short pass from quarterback Griffin Ray for his third total touchdown. Tyler Watson, Payton Brown and Jaxin Patterson all had over 50 yards rushing as well. The Hawks’ defense flew around the field and kept Northwest quiet all game.
These two squads met up last season and the ball rolled the way of Jackson. The Indians won by a convincing 55-14 margin. Hillsboro has yet to pick up a win against the Indians across the last three seasons. Jackson has scored at least 55 points in each matchup since 2018.
It is an early-season matchup, but it will be a test of fortitude from both sides. Jackson is going to come into the game ready for everything Hillsboro has to offer, but the Hawks are a confident bunch. They will bring their absolute best in an attempt to humble the Indians. Despite their recent losses to Jackson, they are sure to come into Friday night amped up and ready to go to war with one of the best teams they’ll see all year. The battle to stay undefeated begins Friday, September 3rd at 7 pm at Hillsboro High School, if you can’t make it to the game you can watch the Live Stream here on Ameritime Sports.
Good luck Hawks!
