The Hillsboro Men and Women’s Cross Country teams traveled to Arnold City Park for the Cross Country Classic on 9/3. Josh Allison put together an impressive day finishing 3rd (10:17.38) while Jonah Allison came 5th (10:46.63).

“Today was a great race,” said Josh Allison, “I knew it was going to be as soon as we started warming up. It was a bit muddy with some puddles but nothing too bad. I’m way more satisfied with this race compared to my first race. I’m really looking forward to running full 5k races.”

“ I felt really good during the race today.” agreed Jonah, “the weather was rainy but felt really nice while running. I just tried to keep Josh in my sight and I ended up doing way better than I thought I would. The race flew by with it being only 2 miles.”

For the girls, senior Bri Langrehr finished 5th (12:48.13) and Anna Crosby came in 7th (12:49.76) to round out the day for the Hawks.

“Today was a very rainy, which always makes for a fun run. My teammate Anna and I pushed each other through the race. I worked hard throughout the spring and summer knowing this was my last cross-country season. I trained with friends, teammates, the Jets, famous alums like Aaron Dugan, and anyone else who was willing. I’m very blessed and thankful to be able to run, especially with my girls”.

“It was a good race,” said Anna, “it was lots of fun running through all the puddles in the rain. I felt strong and think that our team did really well, I am excited to continue improving as the season progresses”

The Hawks next meet is the Stan Nelson Invitational on 9/12 where they’ll look to bring the thunder and lightning to the trails once again. Hillsboro Cross Country Storms Their Way to the Finish
