Friday Night Preview Week 8: Park Hills Central Rebels

The 7-1 Park Hills Central Rebels Varsity Football squad looks to extend their six-game winning streak, as they prepare to face the 3-4 University City Lions.

With high school football playoff season just around the corner, the Central Park Hills Central Rebels Varsity team is sitting pretty. The 7-1 Rebels have rattled off six consecutive wins, and are currently 5-0 in their district, and with the last two remaining scheduled games being non-district, they will likely be the top seed in the bracket.

Last week, the Rebels dominated yet again, shutting out the Fredericktown Black Cats 61-0. Jett Bridges, the Central quarterback, has been absolutely stunning this season. In the win against the Black Cats, he set the Central single-game passing records for both yards and touchdowns, doing so in only a quarter and a half.

It helps to have a slew of great targets to hit. Last week, Jobe Bryant led the receivers with four catches for 141 yards and a touchdown, while Casen Murphy had three for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Slade Schweiss also caught five for 90 yards and a touchdown, while Grant Manion caught one for 52 and a touchdown.

Defensively, the team is terrifying for the opposition. They have shut out four teams, and have caused a high rate of turnovers, including four last week.

This week, their opponent is the University City Lions. On paper, the 3-4 Lions don’t look like they pose much of a threat to the mighty Rebels. Yes, the Lions have put up 234 total points, but have given up nearly as many, 230. However, they play in a very tough district, so that statistic could be misleading. In fact, the teams have zero common opponents.

The Rebels will certainly have their game faces on as they line up against the Lions, at home, this Friday, October 15th, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Good luck Rebels!
