We at Ameritime Sports are proud of the team-first atmosphere surrounding the many programs that we cover. It’s a respectful and humble culture that leads to success on a variety of spectrums, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to shy away from championing an individual who had a truly impressive performance within the week.
We’ve teamed up with the good people at Pettus Automotive to bring you a feature that will highlight one student athlete’s outstanding individual performance every week. Whether on the gridiron, golf course, field, diamond or hardwood, there is always someone doing something special. And we thought you’d all like to know about it.
This week the honor goes to Dylan Black, the 6’0″, 190-lb hard-throwing right hander for the Herculaneum Blackcats. Last week he broke the Herculaneum career strikeout record with an impressive total of 170 Ks. The previous record holder, Mike Kinder Class of 2001, had 166.
Black, now in, heck… beyond, elite company, has separated himself from the pack and has fanned 65 hitters in 31 innings this season. He has yet to allow an extra-base hit (that’s all singles by the way), and holds an ERA of 2.94.
He’s also, arguably, the best hitter on the team. He leads the Blackcats in average, homers, RBI, doubles and OPS. Suffice it to say, this kid can play ball with the best of them. He’s having a heck of a season and with a lot of baseball left this year, expect that record number to keep ticking North.
Thanks to Pettus Automotive for making this possible, and congratulations to Dylan Black on one heck of a week.
Dylan will receive a $25 gift card to Taytro’s for his impressive accomplishments.
See you all next week.
