The Festus Tigers are trending up after their big Week 3 win over the Windsor Owls for their first victory of the season, and will look to keep the line moving in Week 4 as they take on the 1-2 DeSoto Dragons at Festus Stadium. The home team will be looking to treat the Tiger faithful to their first win at home this season.
Festus stepped it up in a big way last week, using the two-pronged QB attack of Essien Smith and Jeremiah Cunningham, who each threw and ran for scores. Senior wideout Arhmad Branch is coming off a big game as well, and will look to lead the receiving core once again. Hayden Bates will pace the ground game, but look for Head Coach AJ Ofodile‘s squad to get creative with multiple ball carriers.
As for their opponent, the Dragons, coming off an abysmal 0-10 2021 season, have already surpassed last year’s win total in 2022. In their first game they mopped the floor with Bishop DuBourg 42-12, but quickly reverted to their old ways in the next two games as they got blanked in back to back contests by Sikeston and North County, allowing a combined 80 points.
Quarterback Austin Missey threw for three scores in DeSoto’s only win, while RB Eli Thebeau ran for 236 and a pair of TDs, so the Dragons can be explosive. They can also be completely ineffective if you shut down those two guys, as witnessed by getting shut out the last two games.
Last season the Tigers won the head-to-head matchup by a ridiculous 62-6 margin, so they appear to be in a solid position to rack up back to back wins if they stick to their game plan in Week 4.
Good luck Tigers!
