Another tough game resulted in a 5-0 loss for the Varsity Soccer Lady Hawks of Hillsboro as they took on the St. Vincent Indians. Unfortunately, a rough first half would set the tone for the game.
St. Vincent controlled most of the first half despite the Hawks trying their best to battle back. The Indians scored in the ninth, 24th, 25th and 35th minutes.
In the second half the Hawks’ defense rallied, holding St. Vincent to just one goal in the 74th minute. However, they were unable to find a goal of their own, resulting;ting in a loss. In spite of that, Head Coach Sam Nansel still highlighted the team’s progress from the start of the season to now, and noted that there is more yet to come.
“We’re coming to our last few games before districts and we are playing a lot better now than we were starting out,” Nansel said. “We will give it our all these next few weeks and see what we can accomplish.”
Baylei Clubb played in goal all 80 minutes and had 14 saves. The Hawks had one shot on goal to St. Vincent’s 19 shots.
The Hawks look to face off against conference opponent De Soto on May 3rd in the battle for the Highway 21 Cup. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
