The Hillsboro Hawks Boys Track and Field team traveled to De Soto on Friday April 23rd to face off against 16 other schools in the final meet before the JCAA Conference Meet at home. They managed to out-place 14 of the other schools and came home with the Bronze Medal.
Head Coach Todd Medley focused in on just a few of several impressive performances, saying, “Sam Wright won 3 of 4 events, and in two of those ran PR’s, in the 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles. Tristan Jones won Triple Jump (12.54m), the 4×8 relay team of Jonah and Josh Allison, Jesse Gore and Jimmy Mann placed 2nd (8:29.74) and Zach McNees placed 2nd in the Shot Put (14.20m).”
Wright’s personal records set in this meet are a scorching 14.60 seconds in the 110 Meter Hurdles and 38.60 seconds in the 300 Meter Hurdles. He also took first in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.64 seconds.
McNees also took third in the Discus with a distance of 41.30 meters.
“I was very pleased with the overall effort and results we achieved Friday,” said Medley. “It was very competitive and our boys were up to the task. We host the 2 day JCAA Conference Meet this week and hope to be ready to challenge for the title in both the JV and Varsity divisions.”
