The Hillsboro Hawks handled Cor Jesu 10-2 on Tuesday.

Elly Eckrich got the Hawks scoring started in the first inning with an RBI-single that plated Hailey Genge, but Cor Jesu fired back in the third inning. They were able to push two runs across and steal the lead from Hillsboro.

Thankfully, the Hawks tied the game two batters into the bottom of the third. Ellie Bartlett doubled to left field and scored Eckrich. Later in the inning, Kora King hit a sac-fly to center field that scored Alex Wick. Hillsboro took the lead back 3-2.

The Hawks never looked back. They put a four-run rally together in the fourth inning that started when Genge tripled in Alanah Dunphy. Genge scored on an error the next at bat, Eckrich came home on a sacrifice fly and Avery Dean hit an RBI-single. And just like that it was 7-2 Hillsboro.

The last three runs of the game came in the bottom of the fifth. Dunphy hit a sac-fly that scored Lauren Nichols. Bartlett hit an RBI-double and Wick hit an RBI-single, giving the Hawks a 10-2 victory.

Bartlett was 4-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Genge and Eckrich both had three hits. Genge scored three runs and contributed an RBI as well. Eckrich scored two runs and had an RBI of her own.

The win was Hillsboro’s second in a row. The Hawks have now scored ten or more runs in their last two games. Next up, the Hawks have Seckman on Wednesday, Sep. 30th. Hillsboro Blows By Cor Jesu 10-2
