We at Ameritime Sports are proud of the team-first atmosphere surrounding the many programs that we cover. It’s a respectful and humble culture that leads to success on a variety of spectrums, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to shy away from championing an individual who had a truly impressive performance within the week.
We’ve teamed up with the good people at Pettus Automotive to bring you a feature that will highlight one student athlete’s outstanding individual performance every week. Whether on the gridiron, golf course, diamond or hardwood, there is always someone doing something special. And we thought you’d all like to know about it.
This week the honor goes to Nate Moore, the hard-throwing hurler for the Festus Tigers. Moore has been a rotation staple for years now, but he saved his best game for when it mattered most. With the Tigers in the State Tournament for the second straight year, they leaned on their ace in the opening round.
And Moore didn’t disappoint.
All he did was throw a complete game no-hitter, tossing six shutout innings and allowing just one batter over the minimum. He surrendered a lone walk and struck out six in the 10-0 victory over the Clayton Greyhounds. The win catapulted the Tigers into the State Final Four and extended their season by at least two more games.
The talented pitcher lowered his ERA to 1.24 and his WHIP to a team-leading 0.83. He’s fanned 38 batters in 39.1 innings and hitters are struggling to the tune of a .137 average against him this season. It’s a safe bet to assume that the Tigers will lean on him once again at some point in the State Semifinals on Friday.
Thanks to Pettus Automotive for making this possible, and congratulations to Nate Moore on one heck of a week.
Nate will receive a $25 gift card to Pasta House for his impressive accomplishments.
See you all next week.
