Hillsboro Hawks Cruise at Big River Meet

The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity and JV Cross-Country runners performed incredibly well amongst tough competition in the Big River Invitational.

It was a great day of Cross-Country running for the Hillsboro Hawks this past Friday, October 22nd, as the program competed in the Big River Invitational event at Buder Park. Both the Boys and Girls Varsity teams, as well as the Boys Junior Varsity team, all competed in the races. Amazingly, almost everyone turned in either a season best or a personal best.
The Boys Varsity team had a great showing, finishing fourth out of 12 teams, with 120 team points, coming against some stiff 5A competition. Leading the way was Josh Allison, almost winning the race, but finishing in second, followed closely by his brother Jonah Allison in eighth.
The Varsity Girls took seventh out of 10 teams with 194 points, and they are racing better each week. The first finisher for the Hawks was Michelle Jones in twenty-fourth, followed closely by Anna Crosby in twenty-seventh.
The JV Boys had an excellent showing also, and took fourth out of 17 teams, finishing with 105 points. Leading the way once again with a first place finish was Jimmy Mann, running a personal best time of 16:44. His brother Greg Mann took a medal in that race as well, with a twelfth place finish.
Next up, the JV Hawks have a meet at Jefferson Barracks on Wednesday, October 27th. Then the Varsity teams will be racing in Districts at The Farm next Saturday, October 30th. Hillsboro will also be hosting four races including two Class Four races and two Class Five races.
