The Ste. Genevieve Dragons Varsity Football team has won three of their last four games and looks to carry that momentum into this Friday, October 15th when they face off against the De Soto Dragons.
The Dragons’ offense once again found their rhythm last week when they crushed the Perryville Pirates 61-7 and bumped their record up to 4-3. Aiden Boyer and Austin McBride did their best to quickly put the Pirates out of their misery. Boyer passed for 172 yards and three touchdowns, two of which were thrown to Zach Boyer, who racked up 128 yards receiving. McBride carried the ball five times for 125 yards and two touchdowns while Charlie Corbett picked up 30 yards rushing and a touchdown as well. On top of that, the Dragons held Perryville to just 67 yards of total offense.
De Soto has not had much luck this season so far. They are 0-7 and have only scored 29 total points on the season. Most recently, they were shutout 47-0 by Hillsboro and only put together 65 total yards in the game. Week eight likely isn’t when they right the ship, as they seem to be the lesser in the battle of the Dragons.
Ste. Gen has dominated this matchup in recent years. They are 8-0 against De Soto dating back to 2012. Last year, Ste. Gen handled the other Dragons and beat them 42-7. Be on the lookout for wings, fire, teeth and football this Friday, October 15th at 7 pm in De Soto.
Good luck Ste. Gen!
