On October 9th, the Hillsboro Hawks Varsity and Junior Varsity Cross Country teams competed in the Potosi Cross Country Invitational, and came home with three plaques.
In the meet, the Varsity Boys team finished second out of 14 teams with 66 points, while the Girls team also took second out of 12 schools with 107 points. The JV squad had an excellent showing as well, finishing first out of eight schools with 35 points.
In the Varsity Boys race, Josh Allison continued to dominate, coming in first place yet again. Jonah Allison finished behind him in third. Gavin Vaughn and Landon Pogue came in nineteenth and twentieth respectively, while Tyler Winslett landed in twenty-fourth, with Jess Gore finishing in thirtieth.
In the Varsity Girls event, Riley Kruse finished first for her team, crossing the line in fifteenth place. Other medalists were Michelle Jones who took seventeenth, while Anna Crosby crossed in twentieth with Emily Wright just behind her in twenty-third.
The JV Boys, however, had the best day, as they smoked the competition. The JV Hawks took three of the top five spots. Jimmy Mann won the race, while Greg Mann finished third and Clayton Schneider crossed in fifth. Other impressive Hawk finishes were Sam Hafeli who found himself in fourteenth place, Sam Pierce in eighteenth, David Luster in twenty-ninth and Sam Stuart in thirtieth.
The Hawks will now have a week to prepare for the up coming JCAA Conference Cross Country Meet at West City Park beginning on October 16, starting at 10:00 a.m.
