We at Ameritime Sports are proud of the team-first atmosphere surrounding the many programs that we cover. It’s a respectful and humble culture that leads to success on a variety of spectrums, but that doesn’t mean that we’re going to shy away from championing an individual who had a truly impressive performance within the week.
We’ve teamed up with the good people at Pettus Automotive to bring you a feature that will highlight one student athlete’s outstanding individual performance every week. Whether on the gridiron, golf course, diamond or hardwood, there is always someone doing something special. And we thought you’d all like to know about it.
This week the honor goes to Caden Bogenpohl, the hard-hitting dual threat for the Jackson Indians. Bogey, as he is affectionately called by his teammates, went absolutely bonkers last week in the District Semifinal game against the Oakville Tigers.
The Indians won 6-0 thanks to a monster Shohei Ohtani impression by Bogenpohl. At the dish he went 2-for-2 with two walks and hammered a pair of two-run homers to provide the bulk of the offense in the game. He also got the start and made some history on the bump, tossing a seven-inning no hitter with 18 strikeouts.
That punch out total is the third highest in MSHSAA history and led to Bogenpohl remaining a perfect 9-0 on the season. Oh, and those two home runs he hit broke the single-season program record for Jackson. It’s still climbing and likely will stand for a very long time.
He’s currently hitting .416/.604/.901/1.505 with 10 homers, 44 RBI, 58 RS and 36 steals. On the pitching side of things he has a 1.94 ERA and 0.981 WHIP to go with his 9-0 record. He’s also struck out 96 in 54 innings. Pure dominance on both sides of the ball.
Thanks to Pettus Automotive for making this possible, and congratulations to Caden Bogenpohl on one heck of a week.
Caden will receive a $25 gift card to Mary Jane’s Smoke House for his impressive accomplishments.
See you all next week.
