The defending State Champion Jackson Indians are looking to go 8-0 in their so-far perfect season this week as the Varsity Football team heads to Cardinal Ritter Prep to take on the Lions. The Indians already trounced the Lions in week six 42-8, so this matchup leaves little to the imagination.
The Indians are coming off of a huge win against a usually tough Farmington squad last week, where they blasted the Knights 55-0 and had the luxury of resting their starters early in the second half. Quarterback Cameron Marchi was methodical once again, hooking up with his favorite target Kannen Turley for a touchdown, and found emerging wide receiver Isaiah Davis three times in the end zone.
The ground game was woking once again as well, as the two-headed monster of Tony Williams and Joshua Wehrenberg collectively found the end zone three times. Couple that with a stifling defense, led by Tony Terry and Flint Guilliams, and the Knights never stood a chance.
The Indians have now pitched three shutouts on the season and have outscored their opponents 367-53. Pretty eye-popping numbers to say the least. Dating back to the start of last season, when they began their championship run, the Indians have now won 21 straight. They look to make it 22 against a foe they had no trouble dispatching two weeks ago.
As for the Lions of Cardinal Ritter, they started out 3-2 on the year with some impressive wins, but then ran into the buzzsaw that is the Jackson Indians in week six before getting blanked by St. Mary’s last week. In their last two games they have been outscored 84-8, and it’s not likely going to get any easier in a rematch with the Indians.
Jackson will travel to St. Louis on Friday, October 15th to try and extend their string of dominance. Kick off is at 7 pm.
Good luck Indians!
