After an excellent showing last Friday night, defeating the Ste. Genevieve Dragons 28-14, the Park Hills Central Rebels will attempt to keep the momentum going as they get set to face their next opponent, the Fredericktown Black Cats.
The Rebels extended their winning streak to four games last week in an impressive effort from both the running and passing games. Quarterback Jett Bridges was the highlight last week, completing 13 of 16 attempts for 185 yards and one touchdown. He hooked up with Jobe Bryant four times for 86 yards and a score, Grant Manion for three catches and 23 yards and Slade Schweiss for two receptions and 27 yards.
Unfortunately, the Rebel’s stud running back Dayshawn Welch was injured in the fourth quarter, and had to leave the game, but not before carrying the ball 20 times for 166 yards and one touchdown. His status for Friday night is still unclear.
The high-powered offense has pumped out 329 points in total so far, while only allowing 80. Currently, the 5-1 Rebels are a perfect 3-0 in their district, and will look to add Fredericktown to their list of district victims.
Fredericktown could be easy pickings for Central. The Black Cats are currently sporting a 1-5 record on the season and are 0-3 in district play. Scoring has been a challenge for the team, only posting 109 points for, while giving up 221. However, the team did earn its first victory of the season last week, toppling the De Soto Dragons 28-7, so they are not necessarily a pushover.
This Friday, October 9th, the Rebels will look to keep the ball rolling as they face the Black Cats. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. in Park Hills.
Good luck Rebels!
