JV Warriors Use Balanced Attack to Defeat St. Dominic

The Valle Catholic Warriors JV Football squad runs their record to 3-0 with a convincing 39-14 victory over the Crusaders.

The Valle Catholic Warriors JV Football team once again got off to a hot start and pushed their record to 3-0 for the season with a 39-14 win over the Crusaders.  The Warriors used a balanced attack and a balanced line-up to come away victorious.  Four Warriors played QB, nine more Warriors recorded a rushing attempt, seven Warriors caught passes and four more Warriors had interceptions.
However, the game did not start out as planned.  The Warriors fumbled the first play from scrimmage, but Preston Lurk came away with an amazing interception to give the ball back to the Warriors.  Freshman Wyatt Fallert found fellow Freshman Colin Henderson for a touchdown pass with 4:30 left in the first quarter.  The Crusaders next drive would also end at the hands of Warrior defender as Andre Oberle made a shoestring interception to give the ball back to the Warriors.  A long completion from Connor Clanton to AJ Basler, set up an 18-yard touchdown run by Josh Fallert, his first of two for the day.  A Clanton-to-Basler two-point conversion made the score 14-0, Warriors.
On the ensuing kickoff, Henderson recovered a Crusader fumble to set up a 2-yard Carter Grass touchdown.  Will Kuehn converted the extra point to make it 21-0, good guys.  With 8:46 left in the second quarter Josh Fallert found paydirt again with a 21-yard touchdown run.  The Crusaders would finally get on the board with :36 seconds left in the half on a Nicholas Bittner QB keeper.  With 3:24 to go in the third quarter Wyatt Fallert found Tyler Gegg for a 13-yard touchdown pass to make the score 33-7. Grass would find the endzone for the second time in the game with 9:53 left in the game on another two-yard run.  The Crusaders would score late to make the final 39-14 Warriors.
Defensively, the Warriors once again played very well verses the run, and in addition to Oberle’s and Lurk’s interceptions, Isaac Basler and Gegg both came down with great picks to thwart Crusader drives. The JV Warriors play next Monday at St. Francis Borgia.
