The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity Football team will take on the Festus Tigers this Friday, September 24th in the first-ever POW/MIA game.
Hillsboro is coming off of a 42-7 win over the North County Raiders for their third win of the season. This class four district one matchup was one-sided throughout. The Hawks ran the ball up and down the field throughout the entire game. Jaxin Patterson carried the ball nine times for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Austin Romaine had seven carries for 88 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 50 yards. Griffin Ray complimented the run game with 116 yards passing and a touchdown.
Festus enters week five off of a 62-6 win over De Soto for their third straight win. Festus scored their first points of the game when Dalten Yates returned an interception for a touchdown. The Tigers didn’t surrender the lead after that. Kaian Roberts-Day carried the ball five times for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Cole Rickermann completed four of seven passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Arhmad Branch caught two passes for 88 yards.
There is a rich history between these two sides. The Highway A rivalry dates back many years. Hillsboro beat the Tigers seven straight times before Festus flipped the script on the Hawks and beat them in Festus 41-26 last season. The latest edition of this rivalry will surely be a special one. This game is the first-ever POW/MIA remembrance night for Hillsboro. Apart from the football, this is set to be a night remembered by many. The game kicks off Friday, September 24th at 7:30 pm with POW/MIA ceremonies starting at 5 pm.
