The Hillsboro Hawks boys basketball team earned themselves a 57-26 victory over the Windsor Owls last Friday night making it three wins in a row. These young Hawks didn’t have the best start to the season… One could even say, they were flying into the wind. Yet, after an 0-3 start they’ve found their flight pattern and won the last three games by an average of 37 points, bring them back to .500 on the year.
“We played really well and had a great defensive effort,” said head coach Bill Sucharski.
The Hawks controlled the first quarter in with a 17-9 advantage and picked up its defensive effort in the second holding the Owls to just three points which allowed them to expand its lead out to 29-12 at the break. Chase Sucharski and Dominic Sutton paced the offense scoring eight points each in the first half.
The team continued its dominance in the second half outscoring the Owls 28-14 en route to the 31-point win. Sucharski led with a game-high 12 points. Sutton finished with 10, while Luka Pool contributed eight.
“I think always being in full court press helps put the pressure on the other team,” said Sucharski. “We made the most of each tipped pass and ran our offense pretty well which led to open scoring for one of our good shooters, Dominic Sutton. It felt good leading the team in scoring and I felt like I had my most efficient game. Overall a great team win and looking forward to more wins down the road.”
The Hawks had solid contributions all around, Jack Prince and Gavin Hite dropped five points apiece, while Nick Marchetti, AJ Heuszel, Isaiah Colon all scored four from the field.
Nolan Hirth led the Owls with seven points. Michael Becker and Ethan Kemper totaled six a piece.
The Hawks return to action on January 5th when they’ll visit Northwest. Tip-off at 4:30 p.m.
