Last Thursday the Jefferson Blue Jays took part in the Woodland Cross Country Invitational at Jackson City Park. Coach Nicole Boyer was quite happy with how her team competed in the meet. “Overall our athletes ran pretty well and we were proud of their performances! They have been having some tough practices and we are starting to see the results of those practices”.
Coach Boyer continued to say that her runners were happy to be on “a familiar course where they could really push themselves”.
On the girls’ side of things, Kaelyn Nilson was the top runner securing a 14th place finish. For the boys, CJ Johnson placed highest for the Blue Jays and finished in 11th place. Ian Ehrhardt made his varsity debut and set a personal record that was almost a minute faster than his previous personal best.
Ian told Ameritime Sports he was able to accomplish this by pushing himself harder in practice and he “started setting goals every race to get better by 30 seconds and its working”.
Next up for the Blue Jays is a conference meet at Festus next weekend. Their results for the Woodland Invitational are listed below:
