Friday Night Preview

Friday Night Fights are in full swing in as the playoffs approach.

As the playoffs inch closer by the week, teams get hungrier by the minute. Games are more important and crucial victories are certainly at a premium. Let’s dive in to what this week holds for our seasoned athletes.

First off we have the undefeated Festus Tigers facing likely their toughest challenge yet, in the form of the 6-1 Farmington Knights. The 7-0 Tigers are coming off of a solid 40-24 win over the Pacific Indians, but they have a tough road to hoe dealing with Farmington. The Knights fell hard to Jackson last week, but had swept the board for the entire season prior to that, so there is no chance they’ll be a pushover. The game kicks off at 7pm in Farmington.

Next up are the never-say-die Hillsboro Hawks, who are fresh off a 20-point victory over Desoto that put them back on the right side of .500. It’s been an up and down season for the Hawks, but they have a gutsy matchup in the hopper with the St. Francis Borgia Knights, who are coming off a big win over St. Dominic. The 3-3 Knights are a non-conference challenge, but should be a package the Hawks can handle.

Finally, we have the Jefferson R7 Blue Jays, who are gliding into a matchup with the Chaffee Red Devils after a 42-0 undressing of Grandview last week. The Jays are currently 3-2 on the season and looking to expand on that as they face a Chaffee team that sits at just 1-4 on the season. They haven’t won since week one and should be chum for sharks in this matchup. The Jays will have to travel, but their chances still look highly optimistic.

Whether you’re cozied up at home or masked up and making the trek to the game, get ready for fierce Friday football fanfare. Stay safe and root on your crew.
