On Saturday, October 16th the Hillsboro Hawks Varsity and Junior Varsity Cross Country teams competed in the JCAA Conference meet at West City Park. It was a strong showing for three teams, as both Varsity and JV Boys teams placed second, while the Varsity Girls took third. The JV Girls also had two medalists.
The Varsity Boys team competed as one of eight schools, and took home the second place plaque with 61 team points. Josh Allison and Jonah Allison finished in fourth and ninth places respectively, while Gavin Vaughn finished in thirteenth. All three competitors earned All-Conference recognition.
The Varsity Girls finished in third out of six schools, ending with 62 team points. They also had three All-Conference honorees. Emily Wright crossed in fifth, while Michelle Jones and Anna Crosby finished on her heels, in seventh and eighth place respectively.
In the JV races, the Boys team finished second out of six schools with 45 team points, and took home the second place plaque. The team also had five medalists. Jimmy Mann was the race winner and Greg Mann finished in seventh place. Also, Clayton Schneider crossed in tenth, while Richard Wiethop and Sam Hafeli finished in fourteenth and fifteenth place respectively.
The JV Girls team also competed. Matilde Masestro finished in eighth place, and Christianne Davidson crossed in thirteenth to earn medals for their team.
Next up for the Hawks is the Big River Invitational on Friday, October 22, at Buder Park.
