Friday Night Preview Week 8: Festus Tigers

The Festus Tigers Varsity Football team looks to make it two wins in a row on Friday as they take on a tough Farmington Knights squad.

Last week the Festus Tigers Varsity Football team got the clutch victory they have been so desperately searching for the past few weeks. After back to back heart-breaking, last-minute defeats to Hillsboro and North County, the Tigers pulled out a much-needed late win of their own against Pacific in week seven.

The Tigers were down by a couple of scores in the fourth quarter, but stepped up in the most dramatic of ways as QB Cole Rickermann found Isaac Stucke for an 88-yard bomb and then Landen Yates rushed in his second TD of the game to put the Tigers up 35-32. The defense held strong to close out the game (featuring a late interception by Trenton Young), and just like that the Tigers were back above .500 at 4-3.

This week they look to keep the line moving and the wins coming as they take on the Farmington Knights. This will be no easy task as the always-tough Knights are 5-2 on the season, and will likely be out to make a statement. Last week they got embarrassed by the Jackson Indians 55-0 and will certainly be looking to take their anger out on the Tigers.

Overall, the Knights have played well this season and have a strong history against Festus, acting as a thorn in the Tigers’ paw in recent years. Last season the Knights came away with a bizarre 10-7 nail-biter that saw a game littered with penalties. The Tigers haven’t beaten the Knights since 2018 and are just 3-4 against them since 2010.

This game could go any number of ways, but they all point to entertaining football. Grab your rally swag and chug some pepto on Friday night as the Tigers host the Knights in Festus. Kick off is at 7 pm.

Good luck Tigers! Friday Night Preview Week 8: Festus Tigers
