Get ready for another fun Friday night of high school football action! This week, the Park Hills Central Rebels Varsity squad will travel to Ste. Genevieve to take on the Dragons.
The Central Rebels come into the game red hot, after stringing together three consecutive monster victories. In the last three games, the Rebels have won 76-0, 70-0 and 63-7. In fact, on the season, the team has scored 301 points in only five games, and given up merely 66, most of which came in their only loss of the season, a heart-breaker to MICDS, 59-52. The Rebels are currently 4-1.
The Dragons of Ste. Genevieve head into Friday night with a 3-2 record. The team has scored 115 total points, while giving up 138. Last week, the Dragons knocked off the Fredericktown Black Cats in a high scoring affair, 55-33.
Now back to the Rebels. Central has an explosive offense led by quarterback Jett Bridges, who last week was devastating in the air, completing 14 of 19 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns. His main target was Jobe Bryant with seven catches for 125 yards, including two touchdowns. Grant Manion, Slade Schweiss and Ruger Sutton have also been crucial to the receiving core this season.
Though dominant in the air, the main offensive weapon the Dragons need to prepare for is running back Dayshawn Welch. This season has been an absolute highlight real for Welch, as he has already set many school rushing records. Last week, Welch ran the ball 15 times for 94 yards and scored four touchdowns, three of which were on the ground. Bridges himself also had nine carries for 92 yards.
This week should be an excellent challenge for both teams, with the edge going to Central. However, the Dragons have the home field advantage as these two powerhouses will suit up this Friday, October 1st, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
