The Hillsboro Hawks Varsity boys and girls placed second and third collectively at the West City Park conference meet.
The Hawks had three top-ten finishers between both the boys and girls Varsity squads.
Josh Allison finished fourth for the Varsity boys with a time of 16:37. For the girls, Anna Crosby finished second and Briana Langrehr finished ninth. Crosby registered a time of 20:37 and Langrehr came in at 21:31.
“I was very happy with the performance of myself and the team at the race,” Josh Allison said. “The season is going well and looking promising. We just got to keep working hard and give it our all in our last couple of races.”
Jonah Allison finished 11th for the boys with a time of 17:38, Tyler Winslett finished 18th at 18:23 and Gavin Vaughn finished at 18:27, which was good enough for 20th place.
Abby Couch finished 16th for the girls with a time of 22:03, while Sophia Horrell finished at 23:06, placing her 23rd.
Crosby was pleased with her finish, but has her goals set much higher.
“I felt really strong the whole time and was able to finish at a pretty good time for the very hilly course,” she said. “I feel like I have been improving a lot this season and I am hoping to make it all the way to state.”
The highest placing junior varsity runners were Samuel Wahl for the boys and Christianne Davidson for the girls. Wahl finished at 20:45 and Davidson finished at 26:57.
The next test for the Hawks will be the Northwest Last Chance meet. It will take place Thursday, Oct. 22.
