The Hillsboro Hawks continued to improve on a stellar season. Night after night, the Hawks have turned out wins, and Thursday night brought more of the same. The Hawks matched up against Windsor C-1 High School in an in conference match that would be a best three out of five sets.
The Hawks came out strong and were able to take a competitive first set 25-20. The second set saw more of the same as the Hawks posted an identical score of 25-20 for the win. A third set would almost see the Windsor Owls push for a fourth set but the Hawks were able to close it out 25-22.
While the team as a whole was resolute and strong collectively, many contributors stood out on the night. Sophia Marchetti was the top kill getter with 11, but also excelled defensively with 17 service receptions and 20 digs on the night. Coach Erin Boss was especially pleased with the team’s young libero, as sophomore Bella Uzzle was perfect going 15/15 on service receptions and added 19 digs of her own.
Evie Roland was setting up teammates all night and accumulated 19 assists. Roland also stuffed the stat sheet with eight kills, six digs and two aces to complete an all-around stellar performance. Bella Lewis also contributed all over the court as she put up 14 assists, seven digs and one ace.
