The Valle Catholic football program has been one of the most dominant in Missouri for decades, having earned 15 state championships since 1981.
The Warriors opened the season last week by doing something no team in their storied history had done, beat a Class 6 team.
Valle used a 34-point outburst in the fourth quarter to beat Seckman 61-36.
The Warriors will put a 25-game regular season winning streak on the line this Friday night against another new team on their schedule in Festus. The Class 4 Tigers dropped their opener at Ste. Genevieve 50-35.
Valle’s aerial attack was in high gear last week as QB Chase Fallert threw for 365 yards and five touchdowns against the Jaguars. His receiving corps stepped up in a big way with four different players hauling in scoring passes.
The Warriors’ defense will look to rebound after Seckman’s Cole Ruble rushed for 277 yards and three scores. They’ll face another good RB this week in Festus’ Hayden Bates, who ran for 116 yards against the Dragons last week.
The Tigers, for the first time in years, are employing a two-quarterback system with Essien Smith and Jeremiah Cunningham. The duo can produce yards through the air and on the ground, so the Valle defense will have to adjust.
Can the Warriors get their 26th straight regular season win? We’ll find out when they travel to Festus for a 7pm kickoff this Friday night.
Good luck Warriors!
