Friday Night Preview Week 4: Jackson Indians

The Jackson Indians look to make it two in a row in Week 4 as they take on the winless Poplar Bluff Mules.

The Jackson Indians got off the schneid in Week 3 and earned their first win of the season by dominating the Farmington Knights at The Pit 47-7. It was a welcome change of fortune for Head Coach Brent Eckley‘s squad, as they dropped a double-overtime stunner to Edwardsville in Week 1 and followed that up with a disappointing 41-14 loss to Francis Howell. In fact, it was the first time they had lost back to back games since 2015.

But a win can change everything, and the Indians pulled off their first in sublime fashion. In fact, they scored all 47 points in the first half and were able to rest their starters for the final 24 minutes. Despite the uncharacteristic 1-2 start to the season, Jackson now has some momentum and will be looking to build on that in Week 4 when they take on the winless Poplar Bluff Mules.

The Mules are 0-3 in 2022 and to say they have struggled offensively would be quite the bold understatement. They have managed just 16 points off offense in their three games and own just two TDs as a squad all season. Sadly, there isn’t really an offensive player to note that Jackson should be wary off, but the Mules defense is somewhat of a bright spot for them.

They allowed just 29 points to the mighty offense of the Park Hills Central Rebels in Week 1 and held a dangerous Cape Central team to just 14 points in Week 3, so Jackson will need to lean on them with their big guns early and often this Friday. The QB duo of Zach Calder and Adrian Fox with have to step it up and hit their big two receivers in Kai Crowe and Isaiah Davis (who each scored multiple TDs in Jackson’s first win). Look to Tony Williams to control the ground game and pace the offense.

This one should be a layup for the Indians, but after their very much un-Jackson-like start to the season, you can bet they won’t be taking anything for granted on game day.

Good luck Indians! Friday Night Preview Week 4: Jackson Indians
