Friday Night Preview Week 4: Herculaneum Blackcats

The Herculaneum Blackcats look for one the best starts in program history in Week 4, but will have to grapple with a very tough St. Vincent squad.

The Herculaneum Blackcats are currently riding the wave of their most successful start to a season in decades and the competition has taken notice. So far they’ve kicked off the 2022 campaign by going 3-0 with wins over Windsor, Fredericktown and Jefferson R7, but their Week 4 opponent in St. Vincent is a totally different beast altogether.

The Class 1 State-ranked Indians will host the Blackcats in Week 4 and will look to slow down quarterback Jackson Dearing who is 28/53 for 548 yards and eight touchdowns through three games. Dearing has been dealing with an injury that slowed him down in Week 3 against Jefferson R-7, but running back Mike Moloney helped with the scoring output to defeat the Blue Jays. Moloney will be asked again to carry some of the load, along with stud wideout Lucas Bahr, and will be asked to help in the receiving department and on defense where Moloney already shines.

St. Vincent (3-0) dismantled cross-town rival Perryville in Week 3, 38-7, and relies on a solid running game as well as a stout defense to shut the opponents’ offenses down. Head Coach Tim Schumer will have his team ready to play, as will Herculaneum Coach Blane Boss, so Friday night’s matchup at St. Vincent High School should be a barn-burner.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Perryville.

Good luck in Week 4 Blackcats! Friday Night Preview Week 4: Herculaneum Blackcats
